tukdo - the experience
the situation of ‘pre-consumer textile waste’ is a matter of serious concern. the circle of needing to want more - a real-world scenario of the ‘take, make, waste system’, in fashion. through practice developments in textile construction, this display seeks to address the urgent need for creating ‘new ways of building value’ to clothing in response to the ‘take’ and ‘waste’ aspects of today. in simple words, the fabric made out of textile off-cuts equals the outline of the pattern drafted. a reverse zero-waste approach is established in textile & garment construction to eliminate the cause of waste holistically at the making stage. the pieces are hand-crafted using textile-off cuts/ 'chindis' - the waste that has been produced by production houses across india. these pieces aim to establish a person-product relationship- to foster longevity.
clothing is 'imperfect', yet beautiful.
